Qualifications:
- Education: Master's degree in Mental Health Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field from an accredited program.
- Licensure: Must have a New York State license as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC).
- Experience: New graduates are welcome to apply.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in conducting assessments, developing treatment plans, utilizing evidence-based therapeutic modalities (CBT, DBT, MI, etc.), and maintaining electronic health records.
- Soft Skills: Strong active listening and empathy, excellent verbal and written communication skills, cultural competence, patience, a nonjudgmental attitude, and the ability to collaborate effectively with other healthcare providers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments, including clinical interviews, psychosocial histories, and mental status examinations.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on patient needs, diagnoses, and goals.
- Provide individual, family, and/or group therapy using evidence-based modalities appropriate for the patient population.
- Diagnose mental health disorders according to DSM-5 criteria and coordinate care with psychiatrists, nurse practitioners, primary care physicians, and other providers within the multi-specialty practice.
- Educate patients and families about mental health conditions, coping strategies, treatment options, and community resources.
- Maintain accurate, thorough, and timely clinical documentation in electronic health records in compliance with regulatory and ethical standards.
- Monitor patient progress, adjust treatment plans as needed, and provide crisis intervention when appropriate.
- Participate in case consultations, team meetings, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Stay current with best practices, continuing education requirements, and licensure renewal obligations.
- Maintain strict patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and New York State regulations.
