Registered Dietitian – Nursing Home Surveyor / Complaint Investigator – Syracuse, NY

Position Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented Registered Dietitian to conduct surveys and investigations within adult care and nursing home facilities. In this role, you'll evaluate nutritional services, ensure regulatory compliance, and investigate complaints related to dietary care to uphold the highest standards of resident health and safety.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Dietetics, Nutrition, or a related field.
- Current credential as a Registered Dietitian (RD/RDN); must maintain state licensure.
- Minimum 2 years of clinical experience in a medical facility, preferably a nursing home (required).
- 2 years of experience performing nursing home surveillance activities (preferred).
- Ability to obtain Surveyor Minimum Qualifications Test (SMQT) certification within 12 months of employment (required).
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to facilitate positive outcomes in adverse or controversial situations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, able to relate effectively to providers, physicians, senior medical and administrative personnel, and residents/patients.
- Superior investigative and analytical skills, with proficiency conducting interviews with facility staff, residents, and families.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and within a team.
- Strong computer skills with the ability to learn new programs.
Additional Requirements:
- Flexibility with scheduling, as the state determines the work schedule.
- Availability to work weekends, holidays, and evening shifts on a rotating basis, as needed.
- This is a travel position.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct on-site surveys and complaint investigations at adult care and nursing home facilities.
- Evaluate nutritional care services for compliance with federal and state regulations.
- Interview facility staff, residents, and families as part of the investigative process.
- Analyze findings and prepare detailed reports, including Statements of Deficiencies.
- Assess the adequacy and implementation of corrective action plans (Plans of Correction).
- Provide expertise on dietary standards and nutritional care requirements.
