Qualifications:
- Education:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree from an accredited university in nutrition, dietetics, or a related field.
- Specific coursework completion from an ACEND-accredited program.
- Completion of an ACEND-accredited supervised practice program of a minimum of 1,000 hours.
- Licensure:
- Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) license.
- Further certifications, if applicable, in common specialties recognized under and received by the CDR (Board Certified Specialist).
- Experience:
- At least 1 year of technical experience in the nutrition field preferred.
- Proven experience in hospital or healthcare settings with a strong background in dietetics and clinical nutrition.
- Familiarity with geriatrics, acute care practices, and long-term care environments is preferred.
- Technical Skills:
- Knowledge of physiology related to digestion, metabolism, and disease processes affecting nutritional needs.
- Skilled in patient assessment techniques and diagnostic evaluation of nutritional deficiencies or concerns.
- Experience with EMR systems for documentation and care coordination purposes.
- Demonstrate a comprehensive knowledge to translate nutrition research into safe, evidence-based, and practical dietary guidance.
- Soft Skills:
- Proven experience in hospital or healthcare settings with a strong background in dietetics and clinical nutrition.
- Knowledge of physiology related to digestion, metabolism, and disease processes affecting nutritional needs.
- Skilled in-patient assessment techniques and diagnostic evaluation of nutritional deficiencies or concerns.

- Ability to communicate complex nutritional information clearly and compassionately to diverse patient populations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough patient assessments to evaluate nutritional status and identify specific needs.
- Develop and implement individualized nutrition care plans aligned with medical diagnoses and treatment goals.
- Provide specialized counseling on weight loss, tube feeding, and dietary modifications for chronic conditions.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate care strategies and optimize patient recovery.
- Monitor patient progress through regular evaluations and adjust nutrition plans accordingly.
- Educate patients and families on nutrition principles, dietary restrictions, and lifestyle changes for improved health outcomes.
- Utilize electronic medical record (EMR) systems to document assessments, care plans, and progress notes accurately.
- Supervise dietetic interns or junior staff members to ensure quality standards are maintained in dietary practices.
- Stay current with advancements in dietetics, physiology, and clinical nutrition to enhance service delivery.
- Support medical initiatives related to acute care, geriatrics, weight management, and long-term care programs.
