Position Overview:
We are currently seeking a Registered Nurse (MED/SURG) to fill an opening at a hospital located in Marrero, LA. This role is ideal for a dedicated RN who thrives in a fast-paced environment, providing comprehensive care to adult and adolescent patients with a variety of medical conditions and post-surgical needs.

Qualifications:
  • Education: Completion of an accredited Registered Nursing (RN) program (Associate's or Bachelor's degree).
  • Licensure: Active Louisiana state RN license and current BLS Certification.
  • Experience: At least one year of relevant experience is required.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in IV therapy, wound care, medication administration (including P.O., IV, IM, and SQ routes), use of infusion pumps, and electronic medical records (EMR).
  • Soft Skills: Excellent critical thinking and time management skills; strong verbal and written communication; empathetic and patient-focused demeanor; ability to prioritize multiple patients' needs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for a diverse patient population with medical diagnoses (e.g., pneumonia, CHF, COPD, diabetes) and post-surgical conditions (e.g., appendectomy, cholecystectomy, orthopedic repairs).
  • Administer medications, fluids, and blood products as ordered, monitoring for adverse reactions.
  • Perform frequent patient assessments, including vital signs, pain levels, intake/output, and mental status.
  • Collaborate with physicians, case managers, physical therapists, and other healthcare team members to coordinate discharge planning and continuity of care.
  • Provide patient and family education regarding diagnoses, medications, post-discharge instructions, and disease management.
  • Respond to changes in patient condition, initiate appropriate interventions, and communicate concerns to the medical team.
  • Maintain accurate, timely documentation of all nursing care and patient responses in the EMR.
