Location: Metairie, LA.
Employment Type: Per-Diem (this is a 1099 position).
Hourly Rate: $41.76 per hour.

Position Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated Per-Diem Registered Nurse for an opening at a hospital in Metairie, LA. In this role, you will deliver high-quality, compassionate care in a dynamic setting, managing a diverse patient population and collaborating with a skilled healthcare team.

Qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in nursing from an accredited program.
  • Licensure: Active, unencumbered RN license from the state of LA and current BLS Certification.
  • Experience: Minimum of 1 year of RN work experience.
  • Soft Skills: Strong clinical judgment, critical thinking, effective communication, cultural competency, collaboration, adaptability, and a positive attitude.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conducting final health checks (vital signs, allergies, fasting status), verifying consent forms, and preparing the patient psychologically and physically for surgery.
  • Closely monitoring vital signs, airway patency, and consciousness levels as patients emerge from anesthesia, while managing pain and post-operative nausea.
  • Assisting patients to sit, stand, and walk to ensure they are safe and steady, meeting mobility criteria required for discharge.
  • Providing comprehensive verbal and written aftercare instructions regarding wound management, medications, and "red flag" symptoms to ensure a safe recovery at home.
  • Inserting and removing IV cannulas, and administering prescribed medications (including IV fluids, antibiotics, and analgesia).
