Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse for our Surgical Step Down unit, providing specialized care to postoperative patients in a dynamic academic medical center environment. The ideal candidate will deliver high-quality nursing care during night shifts to patients requiring intermediate-level monitoring and intervention.

Qualifications:
Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
  • Licensure: Active New York State RN license; Current BLS certification (or willing to recertify).
  • Experience: Minimum of 1 year of recent experience in an acute care facility.
  • Technical Skills: EPIC EMR experience strongly preferred.
  • Soft Skills: Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Monitor and assess postoperative patients requiring intermediate care.
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to develop and implement patient care plans.
  • Utilize EPIC EMR for accurate documentation.
  • Provide patient and family education.
  • Respond to changes in patient condition and initiate appropriate interventions.
